Story & Lore
Aaru’s burial practices for the wealthy and powerful involve wrapping the body in intricate spellwork, protection against spiritual and physical dangers. They can also enable that body to rise again, to defend its own tomb from robbers or punish desecrators. Since the Shattering, Chaos has corrupted the preservation spells on some corpses, causing them to animate without cause and stalk without reason.
