Goddess of the dawn, Aya is the wife of Shamash and possesses a gentler temperament than her husband. Where Shamash, though just, can be wrathful, Aya is merciful and remembers the details and the individuals often lost in Shamash’s stricter view. She frequently intercedes on mortals’ behalf, tempering the decrees of Shamash and other gods of Ekur.
